Site Visit to LONGi (KCH) Sdn Bhd

On 4th of April 2018, SSIET On Campus organized a Site Visit to LONGi (KCH) Sdn Bhd with a total number of 38 participants. The site visit was held to provide an opportunity for the students to familiarize the overall manufacturing process of photovoltaic and monocrystalline products, techniques used for solar modules productions, and experience the organisational culture of a manufacturing industry.


The activities that occurred in this event are as follow:


1.30 pm

Participants gathered at Block A Lobby, Swinburne Sarawak. Participants were asked to sign the attendance form and filled the letter of indemnity.


1.45 pm

Participants departed from Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus via bus.

2:05 pm

Arrived at LONGi (KCH) Sdn Bhd. Participants were greeted by Mr. Chan, an officer from LONGi Human Resource department, who was responsible for the site visit. Participants went for a security check before entering main entrance of LONGi.

2.15 pm

Participants gathered at the main entrance of LONGi and took a group photo. The safety officer from LONGi briefed the participants on some do’s and don’ts as well as safety regulations in LONGi before entering into a meeting room.

2:25 pm

Mdm. Linda, LONGi’s Chief Operations Officer gave a short presentation on the company overview. She explained the company history, mission, visions and core values of LONGi. A Q &A session was given for the participants to ask the questions regarding the company before proceeding to the sharing session of the products.

3:00 pm

LONGi’s staffs from different departments explained the usage and overall manufacturing processes for four types of products, namely ingot, wafer, cell and module. This helped the participants to have better understanding on the solar cell module productions.

4:00 pm

Mr. Chan appointed Ms. Farah, one of his colleagues to bring the participants for the plant tour. During the plant tour, Ms. Farah explained 16 processes of solar cell module production in details. The processes included receive and uncrate, texturing, diffusion, wet etching, annealing, back and front side coating, printing, testing, quality check and etc.

4:45 pm

After the plant tour, the participants went back to the meeting room and enjoyed light refreshments provided by LONGi. Mr. Chan received a token of appreciation by SSIET at the end of the visit.

5.00 pm

Participants left LONGi and boarded a bus back to Swinburne Sarawak.

5:20 pm

Participants safely arrived at Swinburne Sarawak.
