On 27th and 28th of April 2018, SSIET On Campus set up a booth in Swinburne Carnival 2018. The SSIET booth was organized to create homemade drinks such as coffee and tea for the customers. Part of the earnings will go to charity through the Student Council while SSIET will use the rest for future events.


The activities that occurred in this event are as follow:

8.30am

Committees of the first shift set up the booth. They will learn the technique to brewing coffee and tea.

9.00am

Commencement of selling Tea and Coffee.

Volunteers of the day will rotate between promoting coffee and tea and brewing it.

3.20pm

Consolidating the earnings of day one.

3.30pm

Cleaning up the booth before closing.

4.00pm

End of day one and repeat for day two.

<Swinburne Sarawak IET On Campus>

Jalan Simpang Tiga, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak

Participants: All Swinburne Sarawak Engineering Students


On the October 9th – 13th, SSIET conducted a club recruitment drive in Swinburne Sarawak. The drive was open to all Swinburne Engineering Students and approximately 46 students were in attendance. All SSIET committees with their respective roles were there to help the event out. The purpose of this recruitment drive is to:

1. To bring awareness of the club to Swinburne students.

2. To recruit club members.

3. To promote the club.


Starting at 10.30 am, the event run for 3 and a half hours and ended at 2.00pm.


Happenings for the event are as follows:

10:30 am

SSIET working committees arrived early at the booth allocated near the lobby of G block to set up and preparations. Event poster and flyers were ready to distribute to the students to aware students regarding the recruitment activity. Application form in soft copy was also prepared.

SSIET committees were also present at the booth to promote the benefits of joining IET to students. A total of 46 Swinburne Engineering Sarawak students visited the booth and expressed their interest to join the club. Those students were briefed with upcoming SSIET activities. Registration of new SSIET members was also conducted on the spot. The event was well attended and the feedback from the students positive. However, some of the students expressed the membership fees are too high.

The recruitment drive came to an end. A new member was recruited on 13th Oct.

Participants: All Swinburne Sarawak Engineering Students


On the 30th of August 2017, SSIET conducted a club recruitment drive in Swinburne Sarawak. All SSIET committees with their respective roles were there to help the event out. The purpose of this recruitment drive is to:

1. Introduce IET to fellow students of Swinburne Sarawak.

2. Promote the benefits of joining IET to Swinburne.

3. Recruit new SSIET members on the spot.

4. Attend to any issues faced by current SSIET members


Starting at 9 am, the event run for 8 hours and ended at 5.00pm. Happenings for the event are as follows:

9:00 am

SSIET working committees arrived at the booth allocated for SSIET in the auditorium (G001) for set up and preparations. Event poster and flyers had been printed so that the students can be aware of our recruitment activity. Application form in soft copy was also prepared.

9:05 am

A video introducing SSIET and the past events was played at the booth throughout the recruitment drive. SSIET committees were also present at the booth to promote the benefits of joining IET to students. A total of 40 Swinburne Sarawak students visited the booth and expressed their interest to join the club. Those students were briefed with upcoming SSIET activities and were invited to attend Annual General Meeting on 13 September 2017.


There was also a SSIET member giving feedback that he has not been receiving E&T magazines all this while. The committees then suggested standard procedures to update his correspondence address via IET member portal. Registration of new SSIET members was also conducted on the spot. Besides, students visiting the booth were asked to suggest future events that they would like to see SSIET organising via online feedback form.

5:00 pm

The recruitment drive came to an end. A new member was recruited. More students are expected to join SSIET after attending the AGM.
