Piles and Piles of Tiles || Site Visit - Kim Hin Industry Berhad

On 19 February 2019, Swinburne Sarawak IET On Campus collaborated with Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn Campus, Melbourne and Kim Hin Industry Berhad to organize a Site Visit to Kim Hin Industry Berhad, one of the leading manufacturers of ceramic floors and tiles. The site visit was held to provide an opportunity for the students to understand the overall manufacturing process the company's products, the company's history, and experience the organisational culture of the manufacturing industry.

At 2pm, the participants gathered at Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus. After reporting their attendance, the participants began their journey to Kim Hin via bus. After arriving at Kim Hin Industry Berhad, the participants were greeted by Madam Phang, the Human Resources Officer of Kim Hin Industry Berhad. The participants were led to a conference room, where the manager of Kim Hin gave a presentation on the company overview which included the company history, the manufacturing process of tiles and ceramic floors.

With all the relevant knowledge provided, it was time for some in-depth exposure, by taking the participants on a tour around the factory. Before proceeding, for a place that prioritizes safety, all participants including the company workers were each given a safety vest, face mask and helmet (safety is number one priority, amirite?).

In the tour, participants were given an opportunity to view the range of final products of manufacturing at the Kim Hin showroom. Mdm Phang guided the participants while explaining to them the manufacturing process of the different tiles in the factory. After a long tour, the participants gathered at the main entrance and took a group photo, while presenting a plaque to for the company as a token of appreciation for making this site visit possible.
