Third meeting in a row. It is just week 5 since the semester had started. SSIET committees are conducting their meetings more than ever.
This time, the meeting ended exactly on time with duration of one hour. This efficiency can be achieved because of everyone cooperation. Our President is still seeking a way to make the meeting more productive and efficient.
Talking about productive and effective meeting, one of the person that we can all learn from is him --- Elon Musk.
Elon Musk is a well known entrepreneur and engineer in USA. He owns several engineering, science and computing companies. For example, Tesla, OpenAI, Solar City and etc. Some refer him as the real "Tony Stark" alive.
When it comes to meetings, these are what Elon thought of:
1. Nix big meetings
2. Ditch frequent meetings too
3. Leave a meeting if you're not contributing
4. Drop jargon
5. Communicate directly, irrespective of hierarchy
6. Follow logic, not rules
Maybe what SSIET can do in order to achieve effective meeting is to adopt Elon's Rule No. 5 Communicate directly, irrespective of hierarchy. Some of the committees still feel shy or awkward to speak out their minds. Every committee should be encourage to speak out without judging their speaking skill and tone. It is important for others to pay full attention. No hand phones and chit chatting please.
Let's hope every SSIET committee can overcome their fears of reporting or presenting in front of others. So that SSIET can soar even higher.
