Swinburne Sarawak IET on Campus organised the preliminary round of Present Around The World 2019 held on 30th of March. The event was an annual global competition for Young Professionals and Students to showcase their skills in a 10-minute presentation and 5 minutes Q&A sessions.
The team was honoured to invite three judges, Ms. Norizan Tan, from English Language Centre of School of Foundation Studies, Mr Anderson Kho and Mr. Hii King Ung, from Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science. Total of four competitors registered and taken part in this competition.
The event started with a presentation given by the organizing chairperson, Mr. Ling Ting Rang. He briefed the time keeping rules and introduced the judges to the participants and audiences.
The competitors were given 5 minutes to prepare before their presentation.
Mr. Chin Hau Zhen with his topic “Bed-S”, Mr. Paul Cornelius Bong with his topic “Plastic as a Source, now a waste”, Mr. Jehovah Yii Zui Hon with his topic “My Journey into Artificial Intelligence” and Mr. Michael Wong Geng Wu with his topic “Smart Urban Farming: The future of Agriculture”.
The audiences and judges were hugely impressed by the competitors. The competitors were bombarded with questions after the presentations. The judges gave their comments towards the competitors as to further improve their presentations and take it to a higher level.
After that, the judges and competitors were given 30 minutes break and networking session. At the meantime, Mr. Ling Ting Rang calculated and finalized the marks.
The event continued with award ceremony. The organizing chairperson presented tokens of appreciation to three of the judges and certificates to the competitors.
Then, winner and first runner up were announced. The champion was Mr. Paul Cornelius Bong, while the first runner up was Mr. Jehovah Yii Zui Hon. The winner will be representing Swinburne University to the next state level which will held on 4th of May, 2019 at UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur. The event concluded with group photos.
