On the 19th of May 2017, SSIET and Mun Hean (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. organised a technical talk on the design and installation of isolated power supply for hospitals to BS7671:2008. The event took place at Citadines Hotel in Kuching, Sarawak. The activities took place as follow:

8:30AM

Organising committees arrive 30 minutes before the event to do setting up and venue checking to making sure the multimedia devices are working properly.

8:45AM

Participants began to arrive and attendance were taken. Organising committees also assist participants to the venue as the hall is quite hidden. Refreshments were prepared by the hotel staffs for the participants.

9:00AM

The speaker, Ir. Lim Kim Ten arrived on time and the talk begins with a short introduction on the standards which are relevant in the design and showing different standards which are being used in different countries.

9:30AM

In depth discussion and explanation on the electrical installations or IET/IEE wiring regulations.

11:00AM

Module 2: BS7671 Section 7: Electrical installations of buildings: Medical locations. In this module, Ir. Lim Kim Ten discuss on the regulations for medical locations in hospitals, electrical safety, applied parts, earthing systems, Automatic change – over from normal source to safety source feeding essential loads, Protection for safety, SELV & PELV circuits, TN/TT earthing systems, permitted leakage current of electrical and electronic equipment, group 2 medical IT (earthing) system/isolated power supply (IPS) systems, insulation monitoring device (IMD), group 2 EPB and SEB resistance, and selection and erection of electrical equipment.

12:30AM

Q&A session begins as the talk comes to the end. During this time, many doubts and questions are discussed and answered by the speaker. Group photo were taken after the Q&A session. Organising committees packed up and cleared the area before going off.

1:00PM

Participants proceed to having lunch at level 2 Citadines Restaurant and dismissed afterwards.
