On Saturday, 9 November 2019, Swinburne Sarawak IET on Campus together with Swinburne Sarawak Robotic and Automation Club held its very first Academic Clubs Conference in Swinburne University. This event is a collaboration event with academic clubs and societies in Swinburne Sarawak. The event was supported by Swinburne Sarawak Student Council (SSSC). Tentatively, the academic clubs and societies (total of 10) include:
Swinburne Sarawak IET On Campus (SSIET),
Swinburne Sarawak Robotics & Automation Club (SSRAC),
IEEE Swinburne Sarawak Student Branch,
IEM Swinburne Sarawak Student Section,
Swinburne Computer Science Club,
Engineers Australia,
Swinburne Sarawak Students Chapter of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (SUTS IChemE Student Chapter),
Swinburne Debater’s Club,
American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers ( ASHARE)
Swinburne Engineering Automation Club
The event was held from 9.30am - 12.30pm at L001, Swinburne Sarawak Lecture Theater. The event was promoted through SSIET’s Facebook Page, Student Life’s Facebook page, Swinburne Sarawak Facebook page as well as through email.
The full agenda is available here, but in summary, at 9.00 am, a registration session was facilitated by Adam Sze XiJie (Committee) and Victor Lee Zhe Sheng (Vice Secretary). At 9.30 am, a welcoming speech was done by SSIET president, Lee Zhe Wei and SSRAC president, Marco Lai Chung Yi. Then, at 9.40 am, each club spent 10 minutes presenting on the following topics:
An introduction about the individual clubs
What the respective clubs do
The benefit of joining the respective clubs
Where to find the respective clubs
What upcoming events will be held by the respective clubs
Potential collaboration events of the respective clubs
